What is Cementitious Self Leveling Compound?

Application Process

The sequence below reproduces the Ducon Tile Bond Technical Data Sheet and doubles as a tile adhesive how to mix and apply step by step briefing for supervisors. Work should go to trained operatives.

1. Surface Preparation

Clean the substrate thoroughly and remove dust, oil, grease, loose particles, and weak concrete. Repair cracks and damaged areas.

2. Mixing Procedure

Apply a suitable primer to improve adhesion, reduce substrate absorption, and minimize air bubbles or pinholes.

3. Adhesive Application

Mix the self-leveling compound with the manufacturer-recommended amount of clean water using a low-speed mixer until a smooth, lump-free consistency is achieved.

4. Tile Placement

Pour the mixed compound onto the prepared floor and distribute it evenly using a gauge rake, trowel, or suitable spreading tool.

5. Finishing and Grouting

Use a spiked roller to release trapped air and help the compound flow evenly, creating a smooth and level surface.

6. Storage and Safety

Allow the compound to cure and dry according to the specified time and environmental conditions before installing tiles, vinyl, epoxy, PU, or other floor finishes.
