Ducon Tile Adhesive

Waterproof Tile Adhesive

Ducon Tile Bond is a single component, polymer modified cementitious adhesive produced at our Gazipur plant for the permanent fixing of marble, granite and dimensional stone. It develops high tensile adhesion with strong initial grab over concrete, screed and plaster. Interior and exterior, floor and wall.

What is Waterproof Tile Bond Adhesive?

Many construction sites in Bangladesh still install tiles using a traditional sand and cement mix. Although it is a common method, it often cannot create a strong bond with modern ceramic or porcelain tiles. As the cement dries, it shrinks and small gaps can form between the tile and the floor. Over time, water enters these gaps, causing floor tiles loosening after some time and tiles not sticking to floor properly. This is one of the main reasons why tiles become hollow or come loose.

A polymer modified tile adhesive is designed to solve this problem. It contains special polymers that create a stronger and more flexible bond between the tile and the surface. The adhesive can handle slight movement caused by temperature changes and moisture, helping prevent cracks and tile failure. It also works as a Waterproof Tile Adhesive, making it an excellent tile adhesive for wet area applications such as bathrooms, kitchens, balconies, and swimming pools. It is also an effective tiles falling off wall solution, providing a durable and long-lasting bond for both floors and walls.

Application Process

The sequence below reproduces the Ducon Tile Bond Technical Data Sheet and doubles as a tile adhesive how to mix and apply step by step briefing for supervisors. Work should go to trained operatives.

1. Surface Preparation

Before applying the adhesive, make sure the surface is strong, clean, and free from dust, oil, grease, paint, loose particles, or any weak material. Wet the surface with water first, but do not leave any standing water. The surface should be damp, not soaked.

2. Mixing Procedure

Pour water into a clean container first. Slowly add the powder while mixing until it becomes smooth and lump-free. Mix at a 4:1 ratio by weight. Do not add extra water later to make it softer, as this reduces the adhesive's bonding strength.

3. Adhesive Application

Spread the adhesive with a notched trowel to a thickness of 3–6 mm, keeping the grooves in one direction. Apply only as much adhesive as you can cover with tiles before it starts to dry.

4. Tile Placement

Press each tile firmly into the adhesive and give it a slight twist to ensure full contact. Avoid empty gaps behind the tile, as they can collect water and weaken the bond, causing the tile to become loose over time.

5. Finishing and Grouting

Wipe off any extra adhesive from the tile surface before it dries. After 24 hours, fill the tile joints using Ducon Tile Joint Filler, available in both cement-based and epoxy grades.

6. Storage and Safety

Store unopened bags in a dry place between 5°C and 35°C. Use the product within 12 months. Wear gloves and other safety gear while mixing, and read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

Properties: Waterproof Tile Bond Adhesive

Benefits: Polymer Modified Tile Adhesive

Durable bond: The polymer film adheres to tile and substrate alike, so the slow loss of adhesion that characterises cement beds does not set in.

Lower installed cost: Mixing and bedding are quicker, so daily output rises and labour content falls.

Wet service capability. Moisture resistance after cure permits one specification to cover bathrooms, kitchens, terraces and pools.

Large format capability: Early grab carries marble, granite and oversized porcelain on a vertical face, where ordinary mortar is unreliable.

Auditable supply: Batch controlled production at Gazipur, dispatched with TDS and MSDS documentation.

Polymer Modified Tile Adhesive: Usages Area

Applications & Use Cases

Consumption is heaviest in residential and commercial building work. Wet area tiling and stone cladding account for the bulk of post-handover failures reported in Bangladesh, which is where Waterproof Tile Bond Adhesive does most of its work. Industrial demand follows, in washdown bays and heavily trafficked floors.

01

Malls, Hotels, Hospitals and Factories

Ideal for large floor tiles in areas with foot traffic, trolleys, and regular washing. Full adhesive coverage prevents hollow sounds, tile edge damage, and dirt or moisture buildup, helping keep floors strong and hygienic.

02

Kitchens and Food Preparation Areas

Suitable for splashbacks, countertops, and floors exposed to grease, steam, and cleaning chemicals. Once cured, it forms a strong, durable bond that performs well in commercial kitchens and other demanding areas.

03

Swimming Pools and Water Features

Perfect for swimming pools and other underwater areas. It provides a strong, long-lasting bond that helps prevent tiles from coming loose, reducing the risk of stains and damage below the waterline.

04

Bathrooms and Toilets

Bathrooms stay wet for long periods, so the adhesive must bond well even in damp conditions. A waterproof tile adhesive helps keep tiles firmly in place and prevents them from becoming loose due to constant water exposure.

05

Balconies, Terraces and Rooftops

Ideal for balconies, terraces, and other outdoor areas. It handles heat, rain, and temperature changes, while its flexible formula helps keep tiles firmly bonded and reduces the risk of cracks or loose tiles.

056

Marble and Granite Cladding

Heavy stone on a vertical face needs early grab and sustained adhesion, the duty this product was formulated around.

Yes, it is rated for exterior use and flexes with rooftop thermal cycling. One caution: this is a fixing adhesive, not a membrane. Structural waterproofing must already sit beneath the screed.

Comb up to 6 mm; that absorbs ordinary plaster undulation. Anything deeper wants levelling first, since a thick unbonded bed cracks. On how to fix tiles on wall Bangladesh sites with patchy plaster, levelling also cuts total adhesive consumption.

Strip the failed units. Check the plaster is sound, pre-wet to SSD, then re-fix with a moisture resistant polymer adhesive combed across the full area rather than dabbed at the corners. Dabbing is what causes the repeat failure.

Yes. The cured mortar holds bond under permanent immersion, covering pool floors, walls, steps and decks. Let adhesive and joint filler cure fully before the pool is filled.
